GodrejPowerPlay.com - consumer connect initiative

Godrej Group, in partnership with Dream11.com has launched their customer connect initiative GodrejPowerPlay.com where consumers can make their own fantasy cricket team while buying Godrej products to win prizes during the IPL season.

Each consumer who buys a Godrej product from any of the categories ranging from soaps to furniture will have to sms the ‘Godrej’ or log on to GodrejPowerPlay.com. This will help the participant get the name of a cricketer for every distinct product registered along with the value assigned to the cricketer, as well as creating a virtual bank balance. Depending on the real life performances of the players, their values increase, giving the participants a better chance to win. If a participant is not satisfied with a particular cricketer’s performance and wants to exchange him for another, he can do that on the basis of their values.

Oriental insurance for IPL - 4

State-owned Oriental Insurance has provided insurance cover of Rs 610 crore to 5 IPL franchise teams, including the defending champion Chennai Super Kings.The insurance cover include personal accident, medical insurance and loss of baggage. 

 Bytes:-
  • The highest insurance cover of Rs 160 crore was provided to Kochi Tuskers Kerala.
  • Chennai Super Kings were insured for Rs 136 crore, the second highest cover among the 5 teams.
  • Mahendra Singh Dhoni is the highest insured player with Rs 34 crore. Last year, he was given an insurance cover of Rs 10 crore.
  • Pune Warriors, which is owned by Sahara India, has bought policy cover of Rs 122.4 crore for 30 players.
  • Rajasthan Royals has got personal accident cover of Rs 93.7 crore, second edition winner Deccan Chargers is insured with a sum of Rs 98 crore.
  • Pune Warriors captain Yuvraj Singh has been given personal accident cover of Rs 24.7 crore while his teammate Robin Uthappa gets Rs 28.8 crore cover.
  • Suresh Raina of Chennai Super Kings and Mahela Jayawardene captain of Kochi Tuskers Kerala has been given cover of Rs 20.5 crore.
  • Oriental Insurance provided an insurance cover of more than Rs 1,000 crore to the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), the apex governing body and the owners of different franchises in the last edition.

IPL Brand Update


UltraTech Cement Limited, the single largest cement brand in the country today announced its partnership with the IPL Team Deccan Chargers. UltraTech Cement has been behind various cricketing events and has been associated with IPL T20 for the past few years.

Linc Pen would continue as a partner of both the Rajasthan Royals and Kolkata Knight Riders from IPL 2010. Additionally this season, they will also be the Principal Sponsor for the Deccan Chargers.

Yamaha ties up with Deccan Chargers as official team partner

Max New York Life Insurance has associated with Pune Warriors India as principal sponsor and official team partner for the IPL Season 4.

ACC Limited, India's leading cement manufacturer, is pleased to announce the renewal of its association with Kings XI Punjab in Season 4 of the Indian Premier League 2011.

Byte: ACC has a long and rich history of being associated with the game since the 1940s and 1970s when many of the country's great cricket players were employees of the company. The legendary Madhav Mantri joined ACC as a young executive in 1946. ACC was amongst the first companies in India to offer full-time employment to cricketers during this period. Several cricket legends were employees of ACC during their active cricket careers like Rusy Mody, Ramakant Desai, Bapu Nadkarni, Dilip Sardesai, Polly Umrigar, Sunil Gavaskar and Karsan Ghavri among others. India's Test team at the time often had seven or eight players who were also full-time employees of ACC. So close was this bond that sportsmen affectionately referred to ACC's second name as being "All Cricketers Company".

Gulf Oil Corp partners Chennai Super Kings for IPL

Gulf Oil Corporation, a Hinduja Group company, has announced their alliance with Chennai Super Kings as the official team partner for the upcoming IPL tournament.


Chennai Super Kings, the IPL-III champions and 2010 Champions League winners, has been consistent performers across all the IPL seasons under the leadership of M.S. Dhoni.It has been rated as the “most valuable team” in Indian Premier League (IPL).

Kings XI Punjab renews association with ACC

Indian Premier League (IPL) franchise Kings XI Punjab renewed its association with cement manufacturer (ACC) as their Official Team Partner for the IPL 4. ACC started its association with Indian Premier League in season 3, by becoming one of the official Team Partner of Kings XI Punjab. 

KXIP had earlier renewed association with Emirates as the main sponsor besides Reebok, USL and Wrigley.

Floriana Group is Rajasthan Royals team sponsor

Rajasthan Royals launched their team's new jersey and welcomed Floriana Group as team sponsor and HDFC Life as the principal associate team sponsor for IPL4.


Designed by Puma, which is the franchises' official kitting partner, this year's jersey is the lightest among the ones used in all the past three IPL seasons. Made with Polyester and lightweight mesh back, the jerseys are made to give high breathability in soaring temperatures. With uniquely styled names and numbers inscribed in Dazzel gold, the royal blue jerseys have cut and sew panels with Dazzel inserts.

Bridgestone ties up with Mumbai Indians

Bridgestone India Pvt Ltd, a subsidiary of Bridgestone Corp, has signed up as the associate-sponsor of the Mumbai Indians (MI). The tyre maker will be associated with a cricket team, starting with the fourth edition of IPL and will continue to be associated with MI till 2014.

'Bharat Bandh' campaign from Set Max

Max, the official broadcaster of the IPL, has unveiled its marketing and communication campaign.The new positioning for IPL4 is 'IPL on, toh Bharat Bandh'.


Directed and filmed by noted ad-film and feature-film director Shashank Ghosh, this series of films is being produced by director Rajkumar Hirani. Rajkumar Hirani, Producer of Canvas Films, says, "When my partner Sanjiv Kishinchandani and I, first heard the idea of the Bharat Bandh, I realized that it had huge potential. If I had the time, I would have directed it myself. The next best way was to produce it, offer inputs and oversee it.  Finally Shashank directed them. I feel he has done a brilliant job. I'm sure these films will bring a definite smile to people's faces." 

Muthoot Group - Team sponsor of the Delhi Daredevils

An M George Enterprise supported Muthoot Group has become the main team sponsor of the Delhi Daredevils for the Indian Premier League (IPL).

Sahara Pune Warriors has awarded its exclusive sponsorship mandate to Percept Sport. 
Sahara Adventure Sports director Abhijit Sarkar said, “We have had a long standing relationship with Percept over the years and when this opportunity came up, this was logical. Live IPL player auction at Set Max

Max has acquired the exclusive telecast rights of the IPL Player Auction 2011. This is for the first time that any channel has brought the exclusive rights of the player auction, a content popularly lapped up by news channels on earlier occasions. 


For IPL 4, the auction will take place in Bangalore on 8-9 January, starting at 10 am. Max, the official broadcaster of IPL, will have cricket experts and panelists who will share their insights in live wrap around show on both days of the auction. 

Tottenham Hotspur name Investec as second shirt sponsor

Tottenham Hotspur has signed a deal under which specialist bank and asset management firm Investec will become its second shirt sponsor.

Software infrastructure company Autonomy is the White Hart Lane club's shirt sponsor in the Premier League.

Now Investec will become shirt sponsor for Champions League and domestic cup competitions for the next two years.

Lucozade Sport signs Chelsea deal

Lucozade Sport has signed up as Chelsea Football Club’s official sports nutrition partner ahead of the new season.
The brand, which is overseen by GlaxoSmithKline Nutritional Healthcare, has created the range alongside athletes and scientists. The company hopes that in addition to serious athletes, the range will grow the sports nutrition sector by attracting more women and appealing to novices.

Their deal with Chelsea will run for the next three seasons and Lucozade Sport scientists will also work with Chelsea’s backroom staff at the training ground in Cobham.

Lucozade Sport has strengthened its presence in elite football by agreeing two new partnerships with Premier League clubs Arsenal and Liverpool.

Thomson Sport is a new travel partner for Arsenal

Dolce & Gabbana to lend a little Italian style to Chelsea

Dolce & Gabbana, the Italian designer label, has signed a three-year fashion partnership with Chelsea Football Club.

The style deal means we can expect to see the likes of John Terry, Frank Lampard, Didier Drogba, Nicolas Anelka and Ashley Cole out on the town in exclusive, dark blue, three-piece suits, with matching shirts and ties, designed by Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana.

Blue, the colour associated with Chelsea, is the design theme around which all the clothes and accessories revolve; it is also the colour for the exclusive Dolce & Gabbana logo on the clothes tags, which would normally be white.

Two outfits were created for the players: the dark blue suit, featuring the lion rampant reguardant crest embroidered on the pocket of the two-button jacket, and worn with a dark blue shirt, dark blue jacquard tie, black shoes and belt; and a pair of five-pocket, blue denim jeans with a button-down blue poplin ‘Martini’ shirt, and black calfskin trainers. A black wool/cashmere coat, with peak lapels completes the wardrobe. Players and staff will also be equipped with a blue leather trolley-case with Dolce & Gabbana metal tag.

Thai beer brand Singha has teamed up with Manchester United

Singha Corporation won the rights to distribute its drinks and merchandise at the English football club's famous ground in Manchester, while the beer brand is set to appear on pitch side billboards at every one of Manchester United's home matches for the next three years. Singha has also garnered the rights to use the Manchester United brand for commercial purposes worldwide, and additional sport-related ventures will be pursued.

Tottenham Hotspur struck a shirt deal with Autonomy


Tottenham Hotspur Football Club has agreed a shirt sponsorship deal(restricted to Premier League games? with software company Autonomy Corporation.
The two-year deal, which begins from the start of the 2010/2011 season, will see the Autonomy brand feature on the Tottenham Hotspur shirt in Barclays Premier League matches.

Autonomy is the fifth brand ever to appear on the club’s shirt in its history, and replaces online betting company Mansion.com. Autonomy, a Ftse 100 listed company, is the UK's largest pure software company, with over 20,000 global customers and offices worldwide.

Autonomy’s work with Tottenham Hotspur includes consultancy support for enhanced services to fans and for the Club's new Stadium and Training Centre developments.
